Name: Simon Williams
Nickname: Wonder Man
Occupation: Avenger, inventor; former industrialist
Legal status: Citizen of the United States with no criminal record
D.O.B.: June 6th, 1974
Place of birth: Patterson, New Jersey
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 300 lbs.
Eyes: Red irises; can become blue-gray with concentration
Hair: Dark brown / black
Known relatives: Sanford Williams (father, deceased), Martha Williams (mother), Eric Williams (brother)
Relationships: Childhood friend and confidant of Tony Stark
Personality: Despite the changes his body undergoes, one part of Simon's personality never changes: he is, in short, a boy scout. In other words, he puts others before himself. Ever since he was a child, Simon's top priority was to help others, and remains that way today. He would risk his life to save another in an instant, and always feels that it is his job to help those who need him.
In addition, Simon is very pleasant to be with. He is incredibly kind and generous, and is more than willing to give up his own time in order to please another. He also has a light sense of humor and is always the first one to laugh at a joke. Though lately, nothing has exactly been light-hearted, Simon still manages to smile on occassion in order to keep the hopes of others up high. He is also very smart and clever, and tends to learn rather quickly.
However, Simon's care for others is also a bad part of his personality. He is incredibly dependant on other people, and will never do anything before asking permission from someone he believes is his "superior." Lately, he has become more independent, and hopes to stop relying on others some day.
Like one would guess, considering he has been described as an empath, Simon is very emotional. Unlike most men, who are embarrassed to even choke up in front of another person, Simon isn't afraid to bawl his eyes out. He is very sensitive, worrying about even the smallest issues, and isn't afraid to talk about his feelings. This is both a strength and a weakness. While many females consider his sensitivity sweet, most men think that he is a joke.
However, when he is angry, the worst of Simon comes out. It is far from difficult to set him off, though he is at his worst when someone lies to him or tries to hurt someone else. In this state, he is prone to hurting others by accident. Accidentally hurting someone in a delicate emotional state is one of Simon's fears.
History: Simon Williams and Tony Stark are mirror images of one another. Sanford Williams and Howard Stark were business rivals, but they were also best friends. Stark Industries and Williams Innovations were the world's top weapons manufacturers, until one day Sanford decided to take the company in a different direction. Williams Innovations ceased munitions research and pooled all of their resources into other technologies, such as nanotechnology and medical advances. This change in company policy, however, was a failure, and by the time Simon reached his teens, Williams Innovations was bought out by Stark Industries, with Sanford nearly penniless, thus driving him to suicide.
Simon went through his teen years in an awkward adolesence, culminating in his entrance to university. At the same time, Tony went on to MIT and inheriting his father's company. While Tony became a womanizing drunk, Simon became an introverted nerd. The two men, however, had one thing in common: both were certified geniuses. Tony simply had the money to see his dreams come to life.
Simon was a member of a scientific team that was studying the destroyed arc reactor of Stark Industries, following the fight between Tony Stark and Obadiah Stane. The clean, renewable energy the reactor generated was referred to as "ionic energy", a previously undiscovered electromagnetic radiation. The energy was tied closely in the spectrum with gamma radiation, which had previously shown itself capable of causing amazing mutations in humans. It was by mere accident that Simon was exposed to a full brunt of ionic energy, mutating him on a genetic level. He became a living superman, with true powers of his own.
Simon made his first public appearance three weeks ago. Of course, he was partially inspired by Tony's display as Iron Man, but it was also his own desire to help others, considering the amazing abilities he now had. He was able to save a number of people from a high rise building that had caught on fire. The papers dubbed the new hero "Wonder Man" as a tie-in to the pre-existing identities of Iron Man and the Hulk. It wasn't long afterward that Simon was approached by Nick Fury, who spoke to him about the Avenger Initiative. Of course he joined, and now, the childhood friends Simon and Tony now seeing each other since the falling out they had following Sanford's suicide, and perhaps the two will see that they really are two men of the same coin.
